What's in Season?

We are so accustomed to seeing fruit and vegetables year-round in grocery stores that we forget these foods only grow in certain regions and seasons.

Our growers are dependent on the weather and growing cycles, and if the season is off to a slow start because of rain or cool weather, they will not be able to bring as much.  But what they have will be packed with flavor and nutrition, since it is at its peak!

The Illinois Department of Agriculture has a chart of the dates that fruits and vegetables are typically in season.  You can download a PDF by clicking here.  This should help to guide you and help know what to expect when you are coming to the market each week.
